Privacy Policy for CatchIQ

CatchIQ has no sign-up and no backend of its own. The developer cannot see your catches, your spots or your photos, because there is nowhere for them to be sent. Everything below describes data that either stays on your device or goes directly to a service you are already using.

Your catches, trips, spots, coordinates, notes, photos and equipment. If iCloud is enabled on your device, the same data is mirrored to your own iCloud private database, which only you can read.

Apple stores that copy under your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and no way to request it.

A coordinate, rounded to a weather grid cell, sent to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) or Open-Meteo to fetch the conditions for a catch. The request carries no identifier of any kind, and the exact position is never part of it.

Your subscription status, exchanged with RevenueCat and Apple, and only if you subscribe to CatchIQ Pro, so that your subscription works across your devices.

That is the complete list. Nothing else is transmitted anywhere.

No tracking. There is no advertising identifier, no attribution SDK and no third-party analytics in the app.

No data collection. Nothing you log reaches the developer.

No sharing of your spots. There is no public map and no way for another person to see where you fish.

Nothing is sold. Your data is not a product.

Location is used to attach a place to a catch and to fetch the weather there. You can log catches with no location at all, and the app works fully without the permission.

When a coordinate is used for weather it is rounded to a grid cell first, so the exact spot never leaves the device. If you ever share a catch, you choose how precise the shared location is; the exact one always stays saved on your device.

Photos you add are processed on your device and stripped of metadata — location, camera and timestamp EXIF — at the moment they are imported. They are stored with your logbook and included in an export if you ask for one.

CatchIQ keeps a small local record of how features are used — for example that an insight was viewed — as coarse ranges rather than exact numbers. It cannot contain a coordinate, a spot name, a note or a photo, and it is not uploaded anywhere. If that ever changes, this page and the App Store privacy labels change with it.

Export is a free feature and always will be. Settings → Export gives you every catch, trip and spot as a spreadsheet (CSV), as structured data (JSON), or as an archive with your photos included. An app that holds a decade of your fishing hostage is not a logbook.

Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. To remove the iCloud copy as well, open Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device and delete CatchIQ's data. The developer holds no copy, so there is nothing to ask anyone to delete.

CatchIQ is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
