Privacy Policy for Lifely
Last updated: May 5, 2026
What Lifely Is
Lifely is a local-first personal and household finance app. It helps users organize expenses, budgets, people, trips/events, receipts, planning, widgets and local insights.
Local-First And Offline-First
Financial data is stored locally on the user's device. Lifely does not operate a backend server for the user's financial data. Lifely does not require a bank connection.
Data Users May Save Locally
Depending on how the app is used, Lifely may store the following data locally on the device:
- transactions
- categories
- accounts
- people and household profiles
- budgets
- recurring expenses
- subscriptions
- trips/events/contexts
- splits/debts
- saving goals
- envelopes
- future commitments
- local reusable transaction presets
- local rules
- review queue data
- receipt metadata
- OCR text from receipts
- app settings
- widget privacy settings
What Lifely Does Not Do
Lifely is designed to avoid unnecessary data collection and external services:
- no bank connections
- no bank import
- no bank credentials
- no scraping
- no tracking
- no ads
- no third-party analytics
- no sale of data
- no remote OCR
- no automatic CloudKit sync currently promised
- no remote push server
Backups And Exports
CSV/JSON backups are created only when the user chooses to export. Exported files may contain sensitive financial data, and users control where they save or share those files.
If users save exports to iCloud Drive or another storage provider, that provider's privacy terms apply. Backup JSON may include receipt metadata and OCR text. Backup JSON may not include receipt image files.
Restore is replace-all after preview/confirmation. Users should only restore from backup files they trust.
Receipts And OCR
Receipt OCR is processed locally where supported. Receipt images are not sent to Lifely servers. Users should review OCR suggestions before applying changes to financial records.
Widgets
Widgets use aggregated local snapshots. Depending on privacy mode, widgets may show exact amounts or redacted summaries. Users should choose Private or Balanced mode for sensitive situations such as Lock Screen widgets.
Notifications
Lifely uses local notifications only. No remote notification server is used.
App Intents And Shortcuts
App Intents and Shortcuts are used to open app actions or summaries locally. They do not connect to external financial services.
Children
Lifely is not directed at children.
Data Deletion
Users can delete/reset app data inside Lifely. Deleting the app may remove local app data depending on iOS behavior.
Exported files/backups saved outside the app must be deleted by the user from wherever they were stored.
