Timesheet template
Pick a month and print a blank timesheet, or download it as a CSV that opens straight in Excel. Each day gets its own row for start, end, break and total hours, with a subtotal line at the end of every week and a total for the month.
Pick your month
In the print dialog, choose "Save as PDF" if you want a file instead of a printout.

How to use this timesheet template
- Choose the month and year at the top; the sheet fills in the date and weekday for every day.
- Add your name, employer and job if you want them printed on the sheet.
- Print it or save it as a PDF, or download the CSV version to fill it in on a computer in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Write in your start, end and unpaid break each day, and add up the week and the month by hand or with a spreadsheet formula.
- Sign it and keep a copy, alongside your payslip, in case hours ever need to be checked.
What to record on a timesheet
The columns that matter are the ones an employer or a labour inspector would actually ask for: the date, the time you started, the time you finished, and any unpaid break in between. The difference between those, added up for the month, is what should match your payslip.
A signature column is included so both sides can confirm the day is accurate, which matters most if hours are ever disputed.
Filling it in by hand vs. in a spreadsheet
The print version is meant for a pen: keep it on a clipboard or by the till and fill it in as the day happens, which is far more accurate than reconstructing a week from memory on Friday.
The CSV download opens as a normal spreadsheet, with the same columns, so you can add a formula to total each week automatically instead of doing it by hand.
Why a written record protects you
In several countries, employers are required to keep a record of daily working time, and having your own copy is the simplest way to catch a shift that never made it onto a payslip. Keep this hedged to your own situation and check your contract or local rules for what applies to you.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this timesheet template really free?
- Yes. Print it, save it as a PDF or download the CSV as many times as you like — there is no sign-up and nothing to pay.
- Can I open the download in Excel?
- Yes. The download is a CSV file with a UTF-8 marker so accented characters show up correctly, and it opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
- Does it calculate my total hours for me?
- No, the printable sheet is blank on purpose so you can fill it in by hand or by pen. If you want the hours calculated automatically as you type, use the work hours calculator instead.
- What if my shift crosses midnight?
- Write the real end time on the next line's start, or note it next to the day; the template does not assume a shift stays within one calendar day.
